2009- a new year and a new chapter for our country. With so many challenges facing us, Chicago based photographer Bethany Fritz has a new idea which promises change and hope for the most important people of all- our children. 

250 REASONS WHY is an ambitious project that aims to provide families and parents with two things which they treasure most- a photographic token of their child's most formative years, and a chance to help them succeed in their next most formative experience, a college education.

The goal is to complete 250 portrait sessions, and by using a portion of the profits, a $12,000 college savings fund will be created and awarded to one of the child participants. Bethany wants to give back, not only by sharing her creative talent and providing you with photographic treasures of your child, but also with an investment in their future.

"I love photographing children. Capturing their energy and innocence with my camera reminds me everyday that the world is still a beautiful place," says Bethany, president of Maypole Studios and Bethany Fritz Photography. As a student of the esteemed Harrington School of Design and a graduate of NYC's FIT, Bethany's degrees and focus have been on candid, articulate photography of all creative types. Having worked with some of the best photographers in Chicago such as Steven Gross of Real Life Weddings, Crain's Business magazine, and Modern Image Studios among others,  Bethany has started her own Maypole Studios with a focus on personal, one on one service with all of her clients, whether she is photographing a wedding day, a special event, or a child.

250 REASONS WHY is...

A two hour portrait session with the photographer, in your own home, or a chosen location. The photographer spends time with your child, capturing their unique expressions and reactions. Mostly natural light is used, with some studio lighting.

Each session is $250. This fee is for the photographer's time and talent. Included with this is the online posting of proofs for viewing and sharing, as well as one high-resolution digital negative of your choice (with printing rights) and two 8x10 prints. Other print and product options are available, individually and through packages.

Have a big family? No problem! Your portrait session can include up to 4 people (only $20 per additional if more than 4).

In order to book a session, you must contact the photographer to choose an available date and time. A $50 deposit is required (this is transferrable up to 48 hours before your session).

All participants will be notified once the final portrait session is completed, and will be invited to the drawing for the winner of the $12,000 college savings fund. 

(In order to be fair to all families involved, only one submission is permitted, per portrait session, for the college savings fund drawing. However, you are welcome to schedule more than one portrait session during the year)
